Summer Classes are offered in 1-week segments and billed through TADS on May 15, payment is due by June 1. If there is not enough interest by June 1 for the class, it will be canceled. Please see the OLG Academy Policies page for more information about Summer Class Policies.

Secret Garden Book Club: June 2-5, 9:00 - 11:30 AM
Grades: 3-4
Kick off your summer reading a classic, The Secret Garden! We will read, do an art project and have a snack. You will need to bring a copy of the book. Snacks and projects will be provided. Rising 2nd graders are welcome if they are reading chapter books.

Fitness/Health and Wellness: June 2-5, 8:30 - 11:30 AM
Grades: 4-8
Our bodies and minds are the most important things we have! Start your summer off by getting in some good habits. Spend the first half of each day learning about the importance of sleep, water, healthy eating, and taking care of yourself and the second half getting your exercise for the day. Both halves are full of fun games to keep everyone engaged! Class will be held outside, weather permitting.

Spanish Immersion Summer Camp: June 9-12 or June 16-19, 8:30 - 11:30 AM
Grades: K-5
Immerse yourself in the Hispanic culture through music, games, food, dances, art and crafts–all taught in Spanish for a more rich Spanish immersion experience. Keep your Spanish skills sharp and learn new things with Senora Fagerlie this summer! Each week will have a different theme, so sign up for one or both weeks!

Outdoor Adventures: June 9-12, 8:30 - 11:30 AM
Grades: 1 and up
Join OLG teachers for a week of outdoor adventures. A combination of math, language arts and science will keep your students engaged in academic work over the summer while exploring the outdoors and having fun! By heading outside and learning in nature, kids improve their emotional, intellectual, and behavioral development. Outdoor learning helps foster the development of creativity, problem-solving, independence, and confidence.

Finance Basics: June 9-12, 12:30 - 3:30 PM
Grades: 4-8
Take one week to learn the basics of money, finance, and savings. Learn new concepts through fun activities, discussions, and games. Learn how to save money, how to spend it properly, the basics of rent vs own, wage vs salary, and more concepts that all kids should have a basic understanding of. Then spend the summer putting your new finance skills into practice!

Build, Build, Build: June 16-19, 8:30 - 11:30 AM
Grades: 1-7
Do you like to build? It’s so much fun to build with a variety of materials! In this class you can build whatever you’d like–many things each day or one big project the whole week. You can work alone, with a partner, or in a group –the possibilities are endless. Let your imagination go wild! We will have books with pictures of buildings from around the world for inspiration. We’ll encourage you to find ways to build your objects strong. We’ll have time for you to share our creations, ask questions and learn from others. We’ll supply a huge amount of free building supplies. If you want to build with expensive items such as legos or blocks, you’ll need to bring your own. Come and surprise yourself with what you’ll create.

Taylor Swift Camp: June 16-19, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Grades: 1-3
Get ready to step into the world of Taylor Swift at Taylor Swift Camp! Whether you're belting out your favorite hits or dancing to the beat of every era, this camp is your chance to live your wildest Swiftie dreams. Join us for a week filled with music, movement, and magic as we sing, dance, and celebrate all things Taylor! From "Love Story" to "Enchanted," we’ll dive into her iconic songs, learn fun choreography, and build lasting friendships. It's time to shake it off and let your inner star shine!

Join OLG teachers for a week of Mario World fun with exploring, building and learning with cardboard! Students will use a combination of math, language arts and science to construct various games and compete in activities all themed around Mario World while using cardboard!

Coding Around: June 23-26, 12:30 - 3:30 PM
Grades 4-8
Get into coding this summer with Coding Around! We will be discovering what it is like to be a programmer. We will be using different coding languages and figuring out how to use them. We will be doing different programs throughout the week including Hour of Code, Code.org, Scratch and Tynker to name a few. We are going to let our imaginations and computer skills loose and see what happens.

The Case of the Missing Wildcat - Mystery Fun and Escape Room Challenges: July 7-10, 12:00 - 3:00 PM
Grades 1-5
Experience how to work your way through an escape room, create your own escape rooms and have other fun mystery experiences. You will use art, science, engineering, math, and reading skills along with lots of creativity to work together through this fun course!

Minnesota - Our Great State: July 14-17, 9:00 - 11:30 AM
Grades 1-3
Dive into the wonders of Minnesota and celebrate everything that makes Minnesota special! Explore Minnesota’s history, people, landscapes, wildlife and cultures. Participate in activities that highlight the people around us, the parks and waterways we play in, the animals we observe, and the places we love to visit. We will read books, make maps, list our favorite places and enjoy a snack each day.

Catholic Growth Class: July 14-17, 12:30-3:30 PM
Grades 4-8
Our students are so blessed to have opportunities to grow in their faith. Spend each day learning about a different aspect of our faith, learning how to pray more effectively, and enjoying the weather and gifts that God has given us. This class ends with a special tour of the Church and its relics with one of our fabulous priests.

Movie Analysis Class: July 28-31, 12:30 - 3:30 PM
Grades 3-5
Grab your popcorn and favorite drink. Spend the first half of each day watching a great children’s movie, and spend the second half of each day in discussion groups learning about themes, characters, and story structure. These skills will help you in any LA class, regardless of age or grade.

Grades K-3
Build confidence, find courage, and learn to think outside the box in this theater camp. Spend the first half of each day playing improv games, and then finish each day preparing a scene. At the end of the camp, all parents are invited to their very own private show!

Countdown to Kindergarten: August 4-7, 9:00-11:00 AM or 1:00-3:00 PM
Are you excited to join the OLG family? We can't wait for you to start Kindergarten! Join us for a week of adventure as we explore and learn together. Every day will celebrate a new theme as we have fun learning through stories, crafts, projects, and exploration. We can't wait to meet you! This camp is led by wonderful OLG Staff and OLG middle school volunteers. Due to the popularity of this class, students can only sign up for one time slot. If you are signed up for Summercare, the morning session is the only one that aligns with the Summercare schedule.

JumpStart to Middle School: August 4-7, 9:30 - 11:30 AM or 12:30 - 2:30 PM
Join OLG educators to jump start your middle school experience! We will immerse ourselves in middle school fun and routines to practice time management, planning, self-advocacy, procedures and classroom expectations, note taking, study skills, and locker combinations! This class is for students entering 6th grade or new OLG Middle Schoolers. Due to the popularity of this class, students can only sign up for one time slot.

Ready for 8th Grade ELA Class: August 4-7, 12:30 - 3:00 PM
This is a class designed for incoming 8th grade students who want a sneak peek at what awaits in ELA next year and a little practice in writing and reading. We will review some basics and introduce some punctuation and usage concepts we rely heavily on during the year. Students will also practice reading comprehension strategies and how to answer questions that ask them to apply literary terms and analyze the text. Finally, students will have instruction on writing paragraphs with appropriate structures and practice writing an essay. We will also look to apply proper punctuation and word choice.

Ready for English 9th Grade Review Class: July 28-31, 9:00 - 11:30 AM
Does your future high school freshman want one last chance to practice his/her skills before plunging into high school English? In this class we will review punctuation, usage, important structures in writing, and comprehension and annotation strategies so that your student feels extra prepared going into 9th grade. There will also be time each day to practice writing with Mrs. Solnitzky’s prompts or work on editing summer reading essays and assignments high schools assign. This class is for newly graduated OLG 8th graders.
