• Recognized for Excellence:  OLG is a National Blue Ribbon School, having received the award from the U.S. Department of Education in 2009 and 2001, and is one of fewer than 15 schools in Minnesota which have received multiple Blue Ribbons since the program began in 1982.  OLG also is fully accredited by the Minnesota Nonpublic School Accrediting Association.
  • Outstanding Faculty: There are 40 members on our professional staff, 90% of whom have a master’s or other graduate degree or have studied beyond the bachelor’s level. Additionally, we employ 10 teaching assistants, most of whom are licensed teachers.
  • Enrollment: OLG enrolls students in kindergarten through 8thgrade with a total enrollment of 660 students for the 2016-17 school year:
    • There are 458 students in our elementary classes (K-5th), and 197 students in the middle school (6th-8th).
    • The class sizes in K-5 range between 24-27 students, with each elementary classroom assigned a teaching assistant to work with the classroom teacher for language arts and math periods; most of our teaching assistants are licensed teachers.
    • Middle school classes typically average between 20-25 students.
  • Hours:  Our school day begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:15 p.m.  Our Extended Care Program provides services starting at 7:15 a.m. and until 6:00 p.m., as well as during most school vacation days.

  • Who Are Our Students?:
    • Approximately 11% of our students identify as students of color.
    • While the majority of OLG students reside in Edina, OLG students come from a number of different school districts including Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Minneapolis, and St. Louis Park.
    • While the great majority of families who enroll their children at OLG are Catholic, there is always a small percentage of our student population who identify themselves as non-Catholic. All are welcome to attend OLG!

  • Top-Notch Technology: Our One-to-One Learning program for Middle School is award-winning. Our teachers creatively use technology resources to increase the educational opportunities for all our students.

  • School Mass:  Wednesdays we celebrate Mass together as a school community each week with a student-led liturgy.  At these liturgies, 8th grade students sit with their kindergarten prayer buddies as a beautiful reminder of their responsibility to be excellent role models for our younger students.  Many of our 8th grade students also choose to become Peer Ministers for our community, yet another way in which both their spirituality and their leadership skills are cultivated.

  • Athletics:  OLG is a charter member of the South Side Youth Organization, in which the OLG Saints teams participate in volleyball (4th-8th grade girls), soccer (5th-8th grade), basketball (5th-8th grade), baseball (5th-8th grade boys), and softball (5th-8th grade girls).

  • Graduates Prepared to Succeed:  Our graduates go on to successful high school careers at local Catholic and public high schools including, among others: Academy of Holy Angels, Benilde-St. Margaret’s School, Convent of the Visitation, St. Thomas Academy, and Edina High School.
